Adopt a Classroom-
Helping stray, abused, and abandoned animals in our community is our number-one goal. But rescuing, sheltering, and adopting animals isn't enough. We also need to teach our youngest citizens the basics of responsible pet care and the value of treating people and animals with kindness and respect. That's why your support for our Adopt-A-Classroom program is so vital. Learn More
Shelter Tour-
A shelter tour can make a fun field trip for any group. The tour is a short informative walkthrough, approximately 15-25 minutes in length. You will learn about the work we do at the shelter and you will get to visit our animal residents. Tours are available by appointment on Mondays and Thursdays between 2:00-8:00pm. To schedule a tour for your group please contact Christin Pistorius, Director of Humane Education at 847-697-2880 Ext. 51 or email cpistorius@andersonanimalshelter.org.
Birthday Buddy-
Would you like to give animals presents? Then you should become a Birthday Buddy! Through this program, generous kids like you collect gifts for shelter animals in celebration of your birthday. Simply send out our 'wish list' with your birthday party invitations, asking your guests to help a shelter animal by making a donation. You can then drop off your donations or schedule a tour and get your picture taken at the shelter. You will receive an official Birthday Buddy certificate. Parents, what a great way to teach your children the importance of generosity and giving! To register to become a Birthday Buddy or for more information please contact Christin Pistorius, Director of Humane Education at 847-697-2880 Ext. 51 or email cpistorius@andersonanimalshelter.org.
